TRAVEL WITH TODDLERS

Traveling with toddlers is definitely an adventure! Three days in the car together was stressful at times, but for the most part, the kids did really well. (It helped that we brought an abundant amount of little toys and activities to keep them entertained!) When they got restless, we took breaks to get out of the car and stretch. When they got hungry, Claire passed bags of Goldfish crackers, Cheerios, and other favorites to the backseat. We also purposely sought out restaurants along the route with a play area, such as Chick-fil-a and McDonalds.

We made it all the way from West Lafayette, Indiana to Little Rock, Arkansas on the first day of driving. Loading and unloading the car was a breeze because we let Micah handle all of the baggage (just kidding!)

Our hotel happened to be just 2 exits from the headquarters of Heifer International, an organization that we are familiar with because of some common goals with FH programs, so we decided to start our second day of the journey by visiting a part of their campus known as "Heifer Village." Noelia and Micah both seemed to enjoy the interactive, museum-like activities, and it gave them a chance to play before the next long segment of carseat time.

The next segment of our voyage stretched between Little Rock, AR and Waco, TX. For our first meal in Texas, we just had to have barbeque!

On the third day of travel, we finally arrived in San Antonio, with growing anticipation as we neared familiar roads and signs. We pulled into the driveway of our rental house and waited to meet the landlord. Derek turned off the car engine, and Micah (who is just beginning to put together sentences) said, "We made it!"
What a relief to finally be at our destination! We opened the car door to take out the kids, and toys fell out of everywhere. Traveling with toddlers is not always easy, but we were blessed with three days of safe travels, well-behaved toddlers, and finally after several months of transition to life in the U.S., we have a place to call HOME. Thank you, God!
