As we settle into daily life in the United States, I see us entering a period of reflection about our experiences living as missionaries in Bolivia.
We think about our life in Sucre constantly. It's amazing how such small, everyday occurrences can bring back vivid memories. For example, we heard a tune on the radio and hummed along, wondering why we didn't know the words when the tune was so familiar until we realized that it was a song we've only ever heard in Spanish. We look for foods that are "familiar" to us, but find that the food products we used to eat regularly are now just categorized into the "ethnic foods" section of the supermarket. Bible verses often bring pictures to our minds of places we've visited and people we've met during our journey. When Derek and I talk with each other, we often find ourselves framing our American experiences by adding to the end of our paragraph either, "Wow, that would have never happened in Bolivia!" or "Wow, wouldn't that have been nice in Bolivia?"
We're entering a time of processing what we've experienced as we move forward with a new phase of life. Over the next several posts, we'll share a few "Picture Praises", or images from Bolivia that flood our minds when we read certain Bible verses.
