We found our debriefing experience in Colorado to be very calming. Or it was until the next-to-last day of the conference!
In God's timing, we were finishing a session about transitions when Derek received a phone call: He got a job interview! He absolutely loves his job with FH Bolivia, but our contract ends in November and now that we are in the U.S. with mounting medical bills from Micah's surgery, the time is coming soon for us to transition into a different job opportunity. We are searching in Texas, in San Antonio specifically, which was our home before we moved to Bolivia.
Receiving a call for an interview was great news, however, we were in Colorado at the time so we immediately searched online for a flight that would leave after the debriefing ended and get Derek to San Antonio in time for an interview. What an emotional whirlwind of a week! The interview went well and now we're in the process of waiting to hear if this job is part of God's plan for our future in the United States.
After the interview, Derek was able to look at housing options for our family. He visited so many apartment complexes that he lost count! We were trying to narrow down from a list of not-so-great possibilities when Derek happened to drive by a "For Rent" sign on a small rental house within our budget. He visited the property with the realtor and emailed a few photos to Claire, who was back in Indiana with the kids. We emailed the leasing information back and forth and (drumroll please) we now have a place to live in San Antonio! Finding housing now that we are back in the U.S. has been a major source of anxiety for us and we're so grateful that God provided this property at just the right moment and in just the right price range for us to be able to afford it!
Thank you, God, for your many blessings!
